Interchangeable Clipboard Photo Frame

I took a break today from working on the powder room makeover to make a quick interchangeable clipboard photo frame.  This is a quick and easy project that will only take you about an hour (Perfect project to do while the kiddos nap!).  Not only can you change out the frame, but you can also change the flower on the clipboard to go with any holiday or season.

I started this project with a few things I found at Target.  I found a chevron print clipboard in the dollar section of Target and a 3 pack of 5×7 frames in the clearance section.  I had the flowers already in my home.

The first thing you want to do is to take the glass and backing out of the frames and paint all three frames different colors.  These can be any colors you like or can be colors that complement the decor you have in your home.  As an alternative, you can also apply decorative tape to the frames instead of painting.  I used black tape to make stripes on one of the frames.

You will need three pairs of square fasteners with adhesive backs for this project.  I used the Scotch brand, but you could also use Velcro if you already have those on hand.  Each frame will use one soft and one rough square.  Cut the soft square fastener in half and attach each half to the back of the frame.  Cut the rough square in half as well and gently lay it on top of the already attached fastener on the frame.  Make sure you have the sticky back facing out and you will want the fastener lightly attached.

Attach your photo (I used a 5×7 photo since I wasn’t planning on using a mat board) to the clipboard using double sided tape.  The tape will allow you to change out the picture without tearing the clipboard.

Turn the frame right side up and attach it to the clipboard where you placed your photo.  Press down firmly to make sure the adhesive from the back of the rough squares attaches to the clipboard.

The last step is the easiest part.  Lift the clip from the clipboard and insert your flower.  I used a large peony, so I didn’t need any other way of attaching the flower.  If you have smaller flowers, I suggest you glue it to a piece of hard cardstock paper and then use the clip.

All set!  Just hang your clipboard and change out your frame, picture, or flower whenever you feel you need a change.
