How to add color to your windows without painting the window or grids!
Have you seen all the gorgeous colors windows are being painted lately? I’ve been yearning for painted windows for a while now. The white windows in our kitchen seem very lifeless against the white tile. Unfortunately, painting the windows is just not doable (crying on the floor….). Our windows are double pane windows and I can’t get to the window grid easily.
While I could paint the outer frame of the window, I would have a white grid still in the middle and that’s not bueno! So, I had to do some creative work to get the color pop of a painted window without actually painting the windows. Cut to this surprising painting idea!
simple Window painting idea
The kitchen has been looking a bit neutral as of late and I wanted to infuse some vibrancy. A little color here, more wallpaper there…. Maybe it’s the awful rainy weather we’ve had for several weeks now, but I felt like I needed some color in the kitchen.
I started sharing project sunshine kitchen on my Instagram and have since added more wallpaper (check out my kitchen wallpaper video!), a gorgeous golden yellow paint, and have more planned! After painting the kitchen wall yellow, the opposite wall seemed soooo white. It needed some of the yellow immediately! So, I came up with a neat painted window idea and love the effect.

You can see the entire window transformation video of the idea on my Instagram, but ultimately it’s such an easy thing to do. I taped off the tile around the window as well as the window itself and painted everything in between. The area between the window and tile wall as well as the sill was painted yellow for a gorgeous pop of color. This gave me the look of a painted window without actually painting the window or grids!
I am so in love with this look and the best part is that I can change the color without the hassle of having to repaint a window! Such an incredibly easy DIY to add more vibrancy to the wall and kitchen. Would you paint your window areas too? If you’ve taken on this paint job, I’d love to see!
Stay tuned for more easy kitchen update ideas as I continue to refresh the kitchen. I’m excited to share more of what I have in mind!!
