Hola!
Happy Monday everyone. I hope that you are getting all your holiday prep done in time. I’ve been super swamped with work and home that I haven’t even finished Christmas shopping! I’ve decided to take a quick break from blogging to catch up on some behind the scenes work. I will be sharing a blogger Secret Santa post on Wednesday and then will be back after the New Year! Whoo Hoo.
I’ve invited some of my friends to share a bit about themselves and home decorating ideas, DIY projects, or entertaining tips with you. First up, is Amy! Does she look familiar? Amy is one of my cohosting blogging buddies for the Your Home Decor and More Link Party every month.
Let’s find out more about Amy!
Hi! My name is Amy and I blog over at My Life From Home. Thank you so much, Stephanie, for having me visit with you today! I’m excited to be here!
My blog is a lifestyle blog, focused on home decor, decorating, crafts, fashion, and DIY. I enjoy connecting with my readers and inspiring them to make their life feel comfortable and warm “like home!” I love sharing simple ideas and projects that are easy for anyone to do. I would love to have you stop by anytime and say, “Hello!”
Today I am going to share with you some simple ideas to make your house guests more comfortable in your home. With a little extra thought, you can make any space you designate for guests feel more welcoming for them. There is nothing more important than making someone who is visiting your home feel like you wanted them there.
My husband and I both have families that live out-of-town. This means we frequently have house guests and sometimes for extended periods of time. We love having them, but up until this fall, we did not have a designated space they could call their own. Often kids were rearranged and bathrooms were shared and it got a little crazy at times. With our basement renovation, we decided to add a guest suite; a designated bedroom and bathroom space just for our guests.
One of the major downsides is that it does not get any natural light, so we had to work hard to create a warm and light feeling in the space. To accomplish this, we chose lighter colors, textures, and patterns in the wall color, bedding, furniture, and rug.
Here are my 5 tips that will make your guests feel at home. Even if you do not have a designated guest space, you can use these ideas to make any space feel extra special.
1. Warm comfy linens and extra blankets
2. A reading light, favorite book or magazine, and a clock
3. A scented candle and a pretty vase
4. A jar of extra toiletries to have on hand for your guests who may have forgotten a necessity
5. Fluffy towels ready for use.
The most important thing is to create a space where your guests feel welcome and loved! Relax together, laugh together and enjoy! It’s been a pleasure sharing with you today! I’d love to have you pop by anytime.
Here are some posts I’d recommend for you to learn more about me, my home style and one of my latest projects.
Don’t Forget it! Pin it!
To life feeling like home!
XO,
Amy
