Get The Global Look: Global Art
When it comes to global styling, worldly art pieces can make a tremendous impact in a space. What I find is so great about global art is that it is not limited to canvas renderings. Global art can include worldly artifacts. clothing items, hanging textiles, and so much more. Here are a few ideas how you can Get The Global Look with global art. Be sure to head to A Designer At Home where Corinna is sharing more global boho art inspiration as well as Katie Gavigan Interiors where Katie shows you her wonderful collection of globally inspired artwork.
Using Worldly Artifacts for Art
There are no restrictions when using worldly artifacts for art. Mix and match pieces from various global cultural groups to create the look you desire. Make use of beautiful global pieces on mantels or shelves to create a global vignette. Grouping items by 3 is a great way to show off those global figurines, statues, trays, etcs.
Decor Tip: Mix one global accent with your other items to create a global vignette. Using a globally inspired item as a bookend or table vignette.
Don’t be afraid to hang the unexpected. I love to incorporate chinoiserie plates mixed in family photos and scenic paintings. Baskets, trays, unexpected containers for planters, and even instruments can be used to create an eclectic mix of global elements.
Hanging Clothing and Textiles
Have old ethnic clothing items that no longer fit or favorite global blankets? Don’t pack them up, hang them up! A global style wall can be achieved just by hanging these items either on their own, or included with other global artifacts.
Global Gallery Wall
One of my favorite ways to show off global art is to arrange a gallery wall. Not only can you incorporate the most items in a gallery wall, but there is something so artistic and stylish when you enter a room with a gallery wall display. Mix and match artifacts for an eclectic look.
