DIY Global Style Tassel Box
I have been provided product for this post. All opinions and thoughts regarding these awesome tassels are mine alone.
It’s the first Monday of the month and I’m joining the ladies of The Global Styler today to bring you globally inspired DIY and decor! Did you like the kickoff last month? In case you missed it, here is last month’s The Global Styler where I shared a DIY Scandi inspired vase. We are excited to welcome Jessica of House Homemade and her eclectic global bohemian style to the mix. This month is all about the color green. Be sure to visit all of the great ideas shared by The Global Styler team at the end of the post. Today, I’m sharing a quick DIY tassel box perfect for small storage.
Moroccan Inspired Tassel Box
Last month, I was happy to partner with an amazing Etsy store called, Woman Shops World. This store has several global goodies which the curator, Carter, purchases all over the world. I shared a peak of what I did with a pair of Indian camel swag on instagram yesterday. Carter sent me a few other goodies including a set of green and blue mini tassels. Tassels are super popular right now, well they’ve always been, but more and more items are being updated with tassels. Kate Spade shared her spring 2017 fashion line that was filled with globally inspired pieces including a gorgeous tassel sunhat backpack!
I took inspiration from this amazing hat to create a DIY tassel box. I used the cute green and blue tassels from Woman Shops World and a woven box I already had on hand. The box used to hold candles, but I’m thinking it would be a great storage box for my game cards. The tutorial is super easy and it only takes just a few minutes to create this Moroccan inspired tassel box.
What You Need:
Start by threading your needle with the white thread. Use your needle to insert the thread from the inside of the box through the woven box and out the front. Thread your tassel then insert the needle back into the box from the front of the box inward.
You will have two pieces of string inside of the box ready to be tied together. Tie a knot to secure your tassel to the box. Secure more tassels to your box in a random pattern.
Presto you are all done! Fill your box with game cards, craft or office supplies, or use as a gift box. I definitely need to get more of these cute tassels. I’d love to line the big planter baskets I have in the living room with them! Use coupon code CWL10 to receive 10% off your total purchase when you shop Woman Shops World on Etsy (*minimum order of $100). I’d stock up on your spring and summer decor supplies now!
The green and blue tassels look wonderful with more green decor. I placed the box on top of my green garden stool to create a cozy boho global corner in my family room. I’ll be sharing more of the family room decked out for spring this Wednesday so stay tuned!

Tassels on anything makes me a happy lady! Thanks for having me for this great series.
They sure do Jessica! Thanks for joining in on the fun!
Oooh those tassels look so soft and luxurious! It’s awesome how those cards fit perfectly within that woven box. Just beautiful <3
Thanks Corinna! The cards are nicely stored and the kids have no idea where they are at the moment, so that helps keep them off the floor. haha.
This looks fabulous! I love the blue and green hues of the tassels!
Awww thanks so much!!! Blues and greens are always my fav combo……cant get away from the teal. lol.
I love how simple this is but it adds such vibrancy! What pretty storage and it looks gorgeous in your living room.
Thanks so much Kathy! To think I almost tossed this box out. Thanks for another great The Global Styler day!
Easy to make and looks lovely. I love the colors you selected.
Thanks so much Nancy! I really loved the way it ended up….I could go for more tassels though. haha.
Love this idea! My own color choices tend to lean towards sunflower yellows, cobalt blues, and grass greens, so would add to your tassel colors.
Thank you so much Esther! I love all those colors as well! That would look super colorful and fabulous.
I love those colors! What a great idea to update a plain basket! I love Woman Shops World tassels.
Deb thanks so much! Loving the WSW tassels as well. I just got some ribbon last week and am looking forward to creating something with them. Thanks for stopping by. I need to check out your latest in global styling too!
I can’t believe I just now found your blog (through Craftgawker). I love all the bright colors and global influences! My husband is a multi-racial Cuban and he is so bored by “gringo furniture and decorating.” I also see you have some posts about raising bilingual kids that will be super helpful. We’re working on adding to our family and will definitely raise our children bilingual. If we don’t, there’s no way they could talk to their abueala!
Thanks so much Natasha! Welcome to Casa Watkins glad to have you here. 🙂
