DIY Scandi Inspired Vase With Tape
It’s the first post for The Global Styler! I’ve teamed up with two amazing global style bloggers to bring you 1 day of globally inspired DIYs and decor inspiration the first Monday of every month. I’m super excited to kickoff this new monthly series with you all today. I am a huge fan of globally inspired home styling (as you know) and my two partners in crime are as well. Kathy of Up To Date Interiors, Corinna of A Designer At Home, and I all have our own take on global style so you are sure to find all sorts of great projects and design inspirations for your own home. Today, I’m sharing a super quick Scandinavian inspired project.
Scandinavian?! What! Really Steph?
I know, I know! You’ll probably thinking that Scandi style probably goes against my nature.
Scandinavian style is rooted in clean, simple decorating that typically incorporates muted colors (not typically my style) and the use of a minimally decorated spaces (minimal is not in my vocabulary!). During my living room makeover, I noticed that my pitcher vase was looking a bit drabby. The pitcher needed a bit of a pick-me-up and a simple Scandinavian inspired look wouldn’t take away from the colorful vibe of the room. So, I took inspiration from this photo of a nursery and created a DIY Scandi inspired vase. I adore how the black and white geometric designs enhance the green in the cabinet. I was hopeful that a black and white design would enhance the pops of green in my living room.
DIY Scandi Inspired Vase
In under 5 minutes, I gave an Ikea pitcher a quick makeover and a boost in character. Here is how you can make your DIY Scandi inspired vase!
What You Need:
- Black electrical tape
- White pitcher
- Scissors
My Scandi inspired vase is easily created with black electrical tape. You can create any series of designs, but I opted for triangle shapes. Simply cut your tape into small rectangular pieces and proceed to cut the rectangle at an angle to create triangle decals. Place each triangle piece onto your white pitcher. Switch up the angles of the triangles for a little more spice in your design. I am loving how vibrant the greenery looks in this pitcher now. I’m thinking of adding some roses to make a Valentine’s day bouquet and centerpiece. A global style makeover in less than 5 minutes…oh yeah!

This would make a perfect unique gift! Throw in a pretty bouquet and hello! So much better than the cases you get in the floral department. I actually think a dose of scandi suits your home 😉
Thanks Corinna! So True! The plain glass vases are definitely nothing compared to a DIY version. So much more thought placed into the overall gift that way.
So easy and my favorite minimal style! Yet, it ties beautifully with your rich global look.
Many thumbs up 🙂
Awww Thanks so much Dione!!!
I love how beautiful and simple this is! It’s fun seeing a little scandi in your decor. I’ve been leaning towards the style in our Japanese house but I fight it too. lol
