I adore table decorating and it is by far one of my most favorite decorating ventures. Whether for daily use or a special occasion, table decorating can be both beautiful and functionable. I’ve been wanting to create festive tassel placemats for a while and jumped at the chance to use a tassel ribbon I scored from Woman Shops World this month. This colorful tassel ribbon has everything I love: color, tassels, and a funky color combination. Sure you can make a DIY tassel placemat with individual tassels, but this ribbon tassel makes the process so much quicker and adds more flair to your placemats. Woman Shops World on Etsy also carries a vast quantity of individual tassels, should you want to design your own color combination.

Using some woven placemats from the Better Homes and Garden line of housewares, I created some tassel placemats that are sure to bring some global boho vibes to any table. Here is how to make your own easy, peasy DIY tassel placemats.
What You Need:
- Tassel ribbon
- Hot glue gun
- Woven placemats
Using your hot glue gun, apply a line of glue 2-4 inches long and press your tassel ribbon onto your glue. Work in short segments and continue to apply your tassel ribbon to the desired area of your placemat. I applied mine onto one side of my placemat, but you can easily apply to all 4 sides of your placemats. Allow your tassel ribbon to dry completely before using and enjoy!
Aren’t they so cute and festive?! The modified citrus colors are perfect for summer and I can see these placemats being used outdoor around the pool lounge. Or, in my case, on the deck since I don’t have a pool yet. Spot clean your placemats whenever necessary. I definitely recommend that you do NOT wash these placemats in the washer and dryer. Now, head on over to my cohosts below for some other great table decorating ideas with global style twists!
These are so cute! I can’t believe how easy they are to make. Love the punch of color and your tables are always so colorful and gorgeous. Another true Casa Watkins style DIY!
