Decorating The Family Room Desk
Hola!
Happy Monday amigas. I couple of weeks ago I shared the items I was considering to use to update my family room desk. You can check out that post here. I was so excited to see the box from LampsPlus and couldn’t wait to style the desk. My desk was one of the last remaining decor projects on my to do list for the family room makeover. It has truly been a decor transformation in our family room and I am so pleased with my New Year New Room refresh. Now that I have the desk decor, the room is even closer to being complete.
I immediately fell in love with a set of gold laughing elephant bookends. These adorable bookends add a bit of global vibe without overwhelming the desk. They are also so playful looking and a great addition to the relaxed feel of the family room.
The blue and white chinoiserie lamp is so great that I had to add it to the desk. We all need some sort of a light source on our desk, but this stunning lamp with the intricate pattern is a must have in my book. It’s another blue and white piece to add to my collection too.
Instead of hanging art, I decided to lean them on the desk. The room isn’t huge, so it’s best to leave some clear wall space to avoid a boxed in feeling. Imagine trying to relax in a room where every wall is covered with something. Not too much of a relaxing space, right?!
I kept my cute Kate Spade inspired pencil holder and Indian inlay stenciled chair. A sheep skin rug thrown on top of the chair creates a lax feel, and breaks up all the color happening in this corner of the room.
In the process of styling the desk, I noticed that I have yet to finish the chair trim. Whooops! I completely forgot about that to-do project from last year. So, I went out today to purchase some trim. Stay tuned for that chair update.
Do you have any unfinished projects around the house? Let this be the year when you start finishing them. Make a plan as soon as you see an unfinished project instead of letting it go to another day. Pushing it off to another day makes me forget the project all over again!
Now that the desk is done, I’m moving on to completing the cabinet. Phase 2 of my Evolution of a Global Cabinet is underway! Looking back at laughable experience during Phase 1 of the cabinet makeover makes me so thankful I’m in phase 2. However, I’m having second thoughts about the color……. Here I go again.
Thanks so much for stopping by my casa!
Adios!
