Christmas in July: Prep Tips For The Holidays

My favorite season is winter… hands down!  Celebrating Christmas is the cherry on top.  I adore every bit of the Christmas holiday season.  Yes, I’m one of THOSE people.  The kind that do Christmas count downs, start planning out gifts (even though I don’t buy them until much closer), and shop Christmas in July sales.  Monica of Monica Want’s It asked 8 of us bloggers to share some of our Christmas tips/projects today and she didn’t have to ask me twice!  See more Christmas tips and decor by clicking the other 7 bloggers listed below.

Most of my holiday decor is non-traditional.  I like to have an unexpected look to my holiday decor and wow my family and guests.  Last year, my decor consisted of several pieces of blue and white chinoiserie.  I included pieces in all three of my winter tours which you can see here (part 1-Living Room/Entryway), here (part 2-Dining Room), here (Powder Room).

Style Tip: Try mixing non-traditional colors with the traditional Christmas colors this year.  Blue and white chinoiserie goes great with the traditional red and green Christmas colors.

Have your guests take part of the holiday festivities by having them create their own wine charms.  These mini wreath wine charms are super cute and can easily be personalized by each guest.  At the end of the night, each guest can take their charms as gifts!

The most exciting part of Christmas is decorating the tree with family and friends.  Last December, I hosted a Christmas tree hop where a multitude of Christmas trees in various styles were shared.  My global, eclectic Christmas tree was so fun to create.

Style Tip:  Use non-traditional elements on your tree to add a unique twist.  I used wall mirrors secured with ornament ties.

Though I did not make these labels for Christmas dinner, the idea of having personalized take home boxes can be used for Christmas as well.  Simply make some labels on a Word document and print out on printer paper or labels.  Have the take away station all set up for guests (see my Thanksgiving station here).  Be sure to include take home boxes, packaged utensils, and bags to take their boxes home.
