Hola amigos y amigas!
Fall is here and I am transitioning my summer decor to fall decor with help from Big Lots! I am so thrilled to be collaborating with Big Lots on my family room fall refresh. Have you visited your local Big Lots yet? I was amazed to find two stores less than 30 minutes from my house. The styles and assortment vary by store, so I took a shopping trip to both stores, and was happy I did. I had friendly faces help me in the stores, and even an extremely nice associate help me load the multitude of bags into my car. I couldn’t be happier with my cozy, eclectic fall family room.
Each store offers a variety of beautiful home decor pieces and a wide assortment of furniture for incredible prices. They have all of your fall refresh accents and furniture under one roof. You can find deals announced on the Big Lots facebook page too!
My cozy, eclectic fall family room received quality furnishings at unbeatable prices from Big Lots. Here’s how you can transition your family room for fall in 5 easy steps.
1. Use a mix of decorative accent pillows in fall colors and textures.
Big Lots has a good assortment of pillows, and I spent probably 45 minutes in the pillow aisle. I could not decide which pillows I wanted from all the choices!
I finally decided on colorful floral pillows that were mixed with furry white pillows. The white pillows are so soft that I had to get two. I could just see Nugget and Chi-Chi arguing over who gets to lay on the furry pillow. Pillows can soften the look of any couch, but it definitely warms the tan color of our couches. What is fall if not a time to cozy up and snuggle indoors?
On my way out, I spotted the gorgeous patterned pillow, which coordinates perfectly with the Teal pillow I already owned. I just love how each pillow is different, yet combined still have a cohesive, eclectic look for fall.
2. Update your family gallery wall with new art work and frames
My gallery wall has been a work in progress. Now, with the beautiful artwork from Big Lots, I can finally say that it is finished. I spent another 30 minutes at Big Lots picking out artwork. I was immediately drawn toward the village street piece. I spent two years of my childhood living in the Netherlands within a town very similar to the art work. It was the perfect piece to add to my gallery wall with the scenic piece.
You can find a vast array of artwork to update your gallery wall at Big Lots. Perhaps you can find a piece that reminds you of your own family trips. Two gold toned frames were also added to my gallery wall. Have you noticed that frames can be quite expensive? I was amazed at the prices of picture frames at Big Lots. I will definitely be getting more frames for my next project: the gallery wall on my staircase.
3. Candles are a wonderful way to warm your family room.
I love candles and collect all sorts of candlesticks. Having young children makes it difficult to have open flames. Let’s try to avoid another house fire, shall we? I was surprised to find a lot of battery operated LED candles at Big Lots. What absolutely shocked me was a set of remote controlled LED candles! Yes, remote controlled. I can dim the candle light, set a timer for the candles, and even turn off the candles, all through a remote.
Candles on a fireplace mantel is definitely a fall must have. You can pair the candles with tall candlesticks to increase the glamour of your fireplace. I found these two candlesticks and had to have them. The contrast of the dark candlesticks and my new gold mirror from Big Lots is wonderful.
Kick the style of your mantel up a notch by incorporating LED battery operated lanterns. How amazing is the detail on this lantern? I almost didn’t find this beauty. I was scoping out the snack section and spotted it by the Big Lots Christmas decor. You read right, amigos, they have Christmas decor! If you don’t know me yet, I am an avid Christmas decorator. Just you wait and see how my house transforms around Christmas.
4. Add a few seasonal decor accents to your room
I typically do not have too many seasonal decorations out, unless it’s Christmas of course, though I couldn’t resist these stunning glass pumpkins. The color and quality of these pumpkins were irresistible. I also found this gold glass owl that lights up. I have been drawn toward owls lately and it all started with my Kate Spade inspired owl pencil holder.
You do not need to go overboard with fall decor, but when you can find stylish fall pieces at a great value, you just need to buy them. These pieces are so nice that they could very well stay throughout the year.
5. Finally, incorporate lush textiles for that final warm, cozy feeling.
My family and I love to watch movies all snuggled up in soft blankets. I found two patterned blankets that are so soft, you just want to sleep as soon as you touch them. One blanket was placed in our blanket basket, which is a repurposed fire log basket. While the other was spread on our sofa. This is my favorite spot in our family room right now. All I need is my super soft blanket, the furry pillow, and a hot cup of coffee to make me happy.
You can also incorporate other textiles such as rugs to elevate your room for fall. Guess what? Big Lots has a great assortment of rugs too! You could literally makeover an entire room with Big Lots, even on a budget.
