Hola!

Did you know that March is National Craft month?  I had no idea until last Friday.  Well, let’s kick off the month by making an inexpensive home decor craft.  I received a set of wooden bowls from Jess of Domicile 37 for a thrifted gift exchange in December.  The first bowl was made into an engraved tribal bowl.  I switched things up and paint the second bowl for a gold aztec inspired makeover.

Here is how the bowl started.  It had a worn look, but is structurally good.  I sanded the inside a bit to even the surface.

I gave the bowl two coats of Americana Chalk paint New Life that I had left over from my end table makeover.  I waited for the first coat to dry before applying the second.  Be sure the paint is fully dry before applying the gold.

Use your gold leaf pen to add your Aztec inspired graphics.  Triangles, arrows, lines, and other Aztec inspired patterns to create your design.  I love how the gold leaf pen creates a hand-crafted look.

Thanks for stopping by my casa!  If you loved this Aztec inspired bowl, then you’d probably love my DIY Aztec Wood Art.  Check out how this Aztec bowl can be paired with a colorful DIY wood beads strand tomorrow!

Adios!
