Simple Fall Decorating With What You Own!

Simple fall decorating with what you own!

It’s been a bit busy here at Casa Watkins.  We have yet another sickness this week.  Nugget is recovering from an ear infection.  I know that children get sick very often when they are young, but it seems like one of the two toddlers is sick every week!  I’m sure it’ll just get worse as the Fall season rolls in.  It still doesn’t feel like Fall weather, but that isn’t a reason for me not to start decorating.

I am still on track with my budget friendly Fall home refresh.  Last week, I shared the thrifted vases for my buffet table vignette and showed you how to marble dollar store pumpkins for a dining table centerpiece.  Now, I have pulled out my very old Fall decor from storage to design a coffee table vignette.  Creating a Fall vignette doesn’t require any new purchases when you can just revamp the decor you already have.

If you are a big fan of color like me, then you probably continue to use colors regardless of the season.  Fall colors are typically warm oranges, greens, and yellows.  These are all great colors, but I like to see them mixed with some bolder colors not traditionally used in the Fall.  Aqua, fuchsia, and royal blue are a few of the colors that look great with “Fall colors.”  Even better, they make my vignette quite colorful yet still feel like Fall!

Table vignettes look pulled together and cohesive when set in a tray.  You can’t really see all the details on this tray, but it has leaves as details around the inner hoarder.  It was the perfect piece to start the vignette.  You can also have a few items placed outside of the tray.  The aqua candle holder and apothecary jar from HomeGoods provide height to the vignette as well as an opportunity to bring in color.  The apothecary jar was used to hold some Fall leaves that I snipped off a garland I found in the basement.  I also place some leaves in a glass container, which is actually the bottom part of the jug cloche I used for my Spring table vignette.

The three semi-sparkly pumpkins were part of some old floral stemmed decor.  I pulled off the pumpkins and just love the red-orange color on the pumpkins.  You know I just had to elevate one on a candlestick.  I used some books, some of which are my library books, to add more height to the vignette.

Shopping your home is a must when creating a vignette.  I found this hurricane candle holder hiding in my curio cabinet.  I had completely forgotten it was there and it made me feel like I had bought a new item.  Woo hoo to completely free shopping!  I picked up two more items from the Casa Watkins shop to finish up the vignette.  The small owl tea light holder is my kind of Fall decor.  Fall theme with a non-traditional color.  Of course, I had to incorporate some blue and white chinoiserie.

When it comes to creating a vignette for the Fall, remember to mix your non-traditional colors with Fall colors and shop your home for accents.  You’d be surprised what you can find and revamp from previous years.  Now you’re ready to make your absolutely free Fall vignette!
