Spanish Sabado #2: What to do with Easter Eggs after Easter

Hola everybody and happy Sabado!
Every Easter, my family and I attend church then go to my sister’s house for an early dinner. We do an Easter egg hunt and afterward I am left with several empty Easter eggs. Whatever you do, do not throw them out. You can make some great educational games with them. Here are a few great examples of how you can use Easter eggs.

My newest Easter egg activity is Bilingual word matching with the matching figurine inside. I found a gigantic bag of over 100 children’s plastic figurines for $5.00 at the thrift store. I used those figurines inside the Easter egg and just wrote what the animal or food would be in English and Spanish on the egg. At this level of our tot school, Nugget just reads the words and opens the egg to see the figurine. The next level would be to match the egg halves then insert the correct figurine.

Other Easter egg and bilingual activities include matching number words, color words, numbers, and alphabet letters.

Nugget worked on the bilingual number and color word matching. I wrote the color word that matched the color of the egg; however, you should use different egg colors if you want to increase the level of difficulty so that the color of the egg won’t be a clue.

These activities were too advanced for Chi-Chi. So, I had her match simple concepts like letters and numbers. Don’t mind her mis-matched pjs. Her father picked out her pjs, need I say more.

Once they were done with their individual exercises, both kids sorted egg halves into labeled containers. I used wipe containers labeled with color cards I made from those paint sample cards from Home Depot. They loved this activity.
