Boho Chic Craft Room Decor: NYNR Challenge Week 2

Well this week was uneventful……inside the house I mean.  We had snow, more snow, and then an ice storm atop of freezing temperatures.  The weather really delayed progress, but I did get to finalize my decor details and timeline.  Boy am I really in for it this time.  I may have bitten more than I can chew, but I’m really motivated to create a space all for me.  This craft room is not only a crafting area, but is to be a mommy retreat space.  So, there are so many details to consider for my little oblong 10×12 room.  Be sure visit my fellow bloggers posts today for an update on their rooms too!  If you’re participating in the challenge this year, you can join the Facebook group for participants.  More about the group at the end of my post.

The biggest need I have for this space is storage and a workspace.  I’ve been looking at a few options for a worktable, but settled on an Ikea table that would fit the space and has wheels to move about the room.  I’m picking the table up later this week along with some shelving units.  It’s going to be a long weekend of building here at Casa Watkins.

I loved the Ikea FJÄLKINGE shelving unit and want to add some of these champagne brass pulls from Liberty Hardware.  I think the white cabinet with the pop of brass will look amazing in the space.  I may make the pulls a bit longer to accommodate the larger drawer size.craft room storage idea, ikea hackI drooled all over this beautiful and colorful Edessa Tribal Medallion Fringe rug from RugsUSA.  I mean, just look how amazing it looks in this space!  It’s irresistible!  There are so many color accents in this rug to pull from and it will coordinate with any accessories I bring into the space.

The lighting in the room is crucial.  The space has one solitary basement window.  It’s not sufficient lighting for projects so I’ve selected a series of light fixtures from LampsPlus to light up the room.  I’m not oppose to mixing finishes as you can see.  I think the mix of finishes will help in creating a collected look in my room.

In the next week, I would have decided the wallpaper for the accent wall.  I’m loving the tropical flair of the Valdivian wallpaper sold by Wallpaper Boulevard.  I also like the geometric design of the Point Of View paper too.  Which one do you like best?

Once the paint and wallpaper is up, I’m excited to bring in a new comfy chair and velvet pillows from SmithHonig.  I’m so excited to be collaborating with this global eclectic shop.  If you haven’t seen their decor, you can visit the shop here.  How amazing is this velvet pillow with the tassels?!
