5 Minute Simple Pumpkin Centerpiece

Create a 5 minute simple pumpkin centerpiece to celebrate fall and for a Thanksgiving centerpiece!

Having children in different grades means you’ll inevitably be asked to go to the same pumpkin farm place with both children….separately.  Last week, the kids both had a field trip to a pumpkin farm and each brought back their own sets of pumpkins.  We went from having no real pumpkins to 7 in a matter of 2 days.  This of course doesn’t include any pumpkins I bought on my own.  So, now I have pumpkins out the whazzoo with nothing to do with them.  I created a quick 5 minute simple pumpkin centerpiece that puts my kids’ pumpkin picks on display.

It would be helpful if more members of my family enjoyed pumpkin flavored baked goods.  But alas, I’m the only one and if I’m to reach my target weight by my birthday in February I must cut back on the baked goods.  We are approaching the holidays and I can only resist cookies and pies for so long.  I created another kids’ painted pumpkin centerpiece last year too, so I guess it’s becoming a tradition.  The kid’s will be decorating their pumpkins this weekend and another centerpiece is probably on the horizon.

For this centerpiece, I used an Indian painted tray from World Market, 1 bouquet of faux hydrangeas, and 5 pumpkins (just enough pumpkins to fill up the tray).  Arrange the large pumpkins in the tray then insert a snipped stem of the faux hydrangeas in between the pumpkins to fill up the gaps.  Use various sizes of pumpkins including the little baby pumpkins too!  Continue to add the hydrangeas until you’ve achieved a full look to your centerpiece.  I also inserted some loose faux leaves.  This centerpiece is currently on our kitchen breakfast table, but it would also be a great decor element for a Thanksgiving table.  A few candlesticks and petite arrangements of roses would complete your Thanksgiving tablescape using this simple pumpkin centerpiece.

If your children love to paint, you can easily create this look using the painted or even carved pumpkins.  I hope you enjoy all the fall field trips and pumpkin picking this season.  Even if you’re not headed to the pumpkin farm with a child, you can score some great looking pumpkins at the grocery store and create this 5 minute simple pumpkin centerpiece for your home.  Happy decorating!
