3 Tips For Styling Boho Pillows
Global decor is made easy with these 3 tips for styling boho pillows!
One of my favorite ways to bring cozy vibes to our home is to use beautiful pillows. Not only do they make the sofa look ready to pounce on, but the textures and colors can make your room feel instantly styled. I switch up the pillows on our sofas at least once a season, but sometimes two to three more times if I happen to fall in love with new designs. You should always have fun with your pillows. Here are my 3 tips for styling boho pillows along with my current fall living room pillows.
Start with a statement pillow
My first step in styling my sofa pillow arrangement is to start with a gorgeous statement pattern for the season. It doesn’t have to be a “seasonal” pillow, per se, but I love to have some tie to the season whether in color or pattern. I worked with a burnt orange and red paisley print pillow this fall.
Minimalist vs. Maximalist Style
Minimalistic sofa styling can be achieved using 3 pillows. If you are like me, you probably love a more maximalist look and want to pile on the pillows. I use 5-8 pillows on my living room sofa and less (3-4) in the family room since my hubs prefers less pillows there. Plus the kids always end up tossing the pillows on the floor so I’m happy there is less to pick up.
How to coordinate pillows
Choosing coordinating pillows can be easy when you use the colors found in your initial pattern pillow. By using the pattern pillow as a base, you can combine all sorts of pillows together to compliment one another. I used two solid copper colored pillows found in my paisley pillow then included another paisley print that included the copper color too. If you prefer to use patterned complimentary pillows, try using a geometric pillow with a complimentary color. My velvet chevron pillow includes all the colors from the paisley pillows.
Looking to add even more pillows? Include textured pillows like Moroccan style pillows or Scandinavian style fur pillows. These add interest and a global vibe to your pillow arrangement. You can even create a textured boho pillow from a rug like I did (see diy rug pillow tutorial). Whatever your style, you can achieve a super stylish look by coordinating lots of boho style pillows. Remember, Just say no to naked sofas!
