DIY Decorative Beaded Tassel

Bring some pizazz to your plant stand with this DIY decorative beaded tassel!

This post was sponsored by Woman Shops World on Etsy.  All thoughts and opinions about these beautiful tassels and beads are 100% my own!

Sometimes, you need a little something something to bring some pizazz to an item.  Some people add glitter or gems, but I prefer tassels!  You may have seen a few tutorials on diy knob bobbles or tassels on Pinterest and they are typically beautifully colored accents.  I thought about using that idea with a more unique flair.  Hence, the multi-tasseled DIY decorative beaded tassel!  I know, it can be a bit much if you’re not a fan of tassels.  I hesitated sharing this idea for a while, since I was unsure if it would be too out there.  It’s been in my home for a while now and I’ve really become so used to it now and it adds a very unique touch to my plant stand.

For this tutorial, you could use tassels that are all the same color or incorporate several colors from your space.  The beads and tassels I used are from Woman Shops World on Etsy and this store carries a large selection of tassel colors.  Create one for your plant stands and another for cabinet knobs!  This diy decorative beaded tassel can also make for one amazing tassel wall hanging too.  Here is how you can make one in just a few minutes.

What You Need:

  • Tassels ( I used 5 from here)
  • Beads (From here)
  • Baker’s twine or thin jute rope
  • Tape

Start by folding about 8-12 inches of baker’s twine in half and taping the ends together.  The tape helps you thread the beads much MUCH easier.  You can use a needle if you have one.  If you plan to hang your tassel as wall decor, I suggest at least 12 to 20 inches of twine depending on the length you’ll want you tassel to hang.  Thread one tassel with your twine and secure with a knot.  This will be the base of the entire decorative tassel.  Use beads to cover the tassel loop and continue to add a few more beads to add spacing around each tassel stack.  Stack two tassels then add a few more beads for additional spacing.  I used about 4-5 beads in between each tassel stack.  Finish by adding another knot and hang in your home!

Super easy right?!  I originally had my decorative tassel hanging off the knob of the entryway table.  It definitely added a surprising touch to the table and immediately drew your eye when you walked in the door.  The diy tassel was moved to the plant stand while I was working on the fall entryway makeover a few weeks back.  It’s the perfect location and makes the plant stand have a bit of global flair.

A little touch of global style to a plain plant stand!  I almost hung this tassel from the strings of my ceiling fan too.  So many different ways to use this unique tassel decor.  What do you think of it?
