In a few weeks, my little Nugget is heading to….gulp…Kindergarten! Here are 5 great books for the first day of Kindergarten!
Most kids are excited about going to school. Nugget has been looking forward to his new school for months. We took a tour of the school around April and since then he’s been asking when the first day of kindergarten will be. Surprisingly, I’ve been calm about this transition. I think I’m most concerned with Chi-Chi starting preKindergarten, honestly. She’s made so much progress the past few months with her speech, but I wonder if she’s ready for a full day of school. Speaking of full days of school, Nugget and I have been reading a few books to prepare him for his new transition.
Books For The First Day of Kindergarten
Most of these kindergarten books are less than $5.00 and Nugget has been so happy to read them. Not only are they great for kindergarten prep, but the kids can also practice their reading skills. I’ve been gradually preparing Nugget for kindergarten over the summer. We have been reading books, working on a few key skills for school (like handwriting, math, and reading), practicing our morning routines (getting up, brushing teeth, getting dressed..etc), and yesterday we went shopping for backpacks as a reward. As a kid (…and admittedly as an adult) school supply shopping is my FAVORITE aspect of going back to school. Backpack shopping may not have been a reward for him as much as for me.
I love the smell of fresh wide rule paper in the morning..lol!
I hope you and your new kindergartener enjoy these great books for the first day of kindergarten as much as we have. Nugget has been reading them at bedtime, but they make great reads for any time of day. I even leave one in the car! Now your little one (and you) can be ready for the fun adventures of kindergarten.
