DIY Boho Chic Lamp Makeover
Give your old or thrifted lamps a DIY boho chic lamp makeover! See how I made this colorful boho chic lamp in 2 minutes!
Do you ever come across old lamps in your home or in thrift stores wondering how you can give them a new look? The lighting section at thrift stores are one of my favorite areas. I love getting lamps with interesting base shapes. A coat of spray paint can do wonders for lamps. One of my struggles with makeovers of any kind is deciding whether or not to paint the item. Not everything requires new paint for a new look. I scored an awesome goldtone touch lamp at the thrift store last week. I had originally purchased it for Pink’s college dorm room, but decided to keep it after I gave it a DIY boho chic lamp makeover.

Okay, that is a lie. I purchased it because I liked it and had no intention of giving it to her. She already has two lamps for her small dorm room, but I told myself it was for her since I already had $100.00 worth of purchases in my shopping cart already. I hadn’t even made it to the back of the store! I did, however, struggle with the paint spray decision on this lamp. The faux brass look was pretty but the shape of the lamp was really intriguing. After playing around with some ideas and moving the lamp around the house, I decided to leave the gold tone base as is and gave the lamp shade a boho chic makeover instead. The result was a colorful boho chic upgrade that looks great in our family room.
This new boho chic lamp is proof that you don’t always have to paint the base of a lamp for a new look. I used ribbon sourced from Woman Shops World on Etsy that I had left over from the DIY no sew global style pillows project. I wrapped the ribbon around and used my glue gun to add attach the ribbon to the shade. The honeycomb ribbon is stunning!! I love all the colors incorporated into this ribbon and I’d cover the entire shade with it if I could. I added a little pink velvet trim to enhance the colors and break up the white. What do you think?

I love how funky (while still being pretty) it is! It makes me want to buy a bunch of second hand lamps and get some use out of my growing fabric scraps collection.
Thank you Jill! I love a little funky 🙂 I’d go buy a bunch of lamps for the same reason. Welcome to the lamp-hoarders club!
