Hola!
You know when you give one child something, it’s almost guaranteed the other will ask for the same. My 4 year old son, Nugget, asked me to redecorate his room after seeing how I started his sister’s infant to toddler boho room. He basically has me wrapped around his finger, so I opted to give his room an updated look with a global traveler theme. Last week, I shared the plans and mood board for his boy’s room makeover which you can see here. I didn’t want to do a major renovation, rather an easy decor makeover to create a neutral space with pops of color and globally inspired accents. I found fabulous globally inspired decor online by the Better Homes and Garden line of home decor sold exclusively at Walmart! How exciting to shop for great looking decor with great quality from my home! I purchased all the decor online and simply picked them up from my local Walmart store.
Here is how Nugget’s room looked before.
And here is his Global Traveler themed room now!
The real inspirational gem of this room is the fabulous Better Homes and Garden Bright Global Diamonds rug. The colors and pattern were perfect for his room. Not only does the rug allow several color pallets to take place, but it also brings a pop of color to this neutral room.
Global accents can also include Aztec inspired prints and I am loving how well the Southwestern Diamonds pillow worked in this space. The diamond feature worked fabulously with the new rug and the rattan chair I purchased from the thrift store. I’m a big pillow person, so I also picked up a fun Fringed Blue Denim pillow and the Navy Corduroy Stoplight pillow to add more pops of blue into the room. These pillows tie in the shades of blue from the framed maps and globes.
I switched out the red curtains to a set I had taken down from my dining room. You would think that red curtains would add a lot of color, but I found that these neutral curtains allowed me to use so much MORE colors in accents. You can make quick updates to a room by switching out a lampshade. This iridescent round lamp shade was perfect on the glass lamp.
With a few colorful pieces from Better Homes and Garden’s Live Better home decor line, I transformed my son’s room into a fun globally inspired boy’s room in one afternoon! I received two thumbs up from my son and he even decided to take a nap in his room just so he could stay in it! He currently is boycotting naps, so it’s a WIN, WIN for me! What do you think about the room?
