Global Eclectic Dining Room Makeover: Week 4

Hola!

Boy was this week completely a loss for me.  I didn’t get too many things done since I was at a standstill with the rug selection.  I had previously selected a light knotted jute rug by RugsUSA.  Once the table arrived, I was thinking it may be too light against the already light carpet.  I would have loved to remove the carpet and install hardwood flooring!  Unfortunately, there are so many projects happening at the same time that the budget was maxed out already!  Not only does this make it difficult to plan out the other details of the room, but now I’m left with stress and anxiety of selecting items that work perfectly the first time rather than trying a few different looks.

I decided to keep the paint color up, even though the paint was ready to go.  My previous hesitation was that the wall looked very different depending on the time of the day.  You can even see some of the difference in the photos I’m sharing today.  However, as soon as the Cozamia Parrot in the Jungle print was placed on the wall, it felt like the wall color was perfect!  See!!!

I knew I was going to have a challenge selecting pieces to compliment the Cozamia art. It is such a powerful print that I did not anything else to detract from it.  I’m thinking monochromatic DIY artwork may be key.  I played with a few looks and think I settled on this ensemble.

As you can see, I am pushing the leaf curtains from Ikea.  Just wait until you see them hanging!  They are going to look superb next to the yellow buffet.  Yes, you guessed it.  I decided to keep the yellow buffet!  I’m thinking an update to the hardware would really spruce up this piece.  Plus, I need to repair the paint chips that my husband caused moving the pre-existing table set.  Do you see them?

I’m determined to have this room completed next week so that I can focus on the table decor (MY FAVORITE PART!!!!) next week.  Thanks so much for checking in my friends.  I apologize for not posting my update yesterday.  If you follow me on Instagram then you read that Chi-Chi, my 3 year old, accidently cut the tip of her little baby pinky finger while practicing using scissors at school.  We spent the majority of the day at Urgent care and by the time we arrived home, I was completely zonked.  She is doing so much better. She is such a tough cookie.  She didn’t even cry!  She gets that from her momma.  Now, move a chair in her dollhouse….and she will cry forever.  That too…..she gets from her momma. Haha.

Thanks for stopping by my casa!

    Ugh for Chi Chi. 🙁
    Is she feeling better?
Hope her pinky heals perfectly; if not we will come up with some heroic and epic story of how she cut it. 🙂

  4. Looking great! I’m totally obsessed with Cozamina art. I think I have my next print picked out! Glad you decided to keep the yellow buffet. I’m wondering–think I saw on Instagram that your hubby was unsure about the table. Has he warmed up to it yet?

  5. I missed last week Stephanie as I was knee deep in my own ORC project and finishing up my college semester finals. It looks like you actually have made tremendous progress!

I am really loving the direction that your space is headed in. I’m eager to see the palm print draperies up. I have been thinking about using them in our family room space as it contains several pieces of Panamanian art. (My husband was born and raised there.)

    Can’t wait for the reveal!

  6. Oh Steph, no worries about having the post up late. I bet you were exhausted after the incident with your daughter. I’m glad she’s okay and that it wasn’t more serious. I hope you didn’t have any other issues or setbacks this week as I can’t wait to see your progress. I love where this room is heading. You have so many great ideas for this space. (and I’m glad you’re keeping the yellow buffet! It’s so bright and cheerful!)

  7. Oh no, I hope your daughter’s finger is healing quickly! LOVE the parrot art print. Vibrant and colorful…exactly YOU! 🙂 Looking forward to seeing this week’s update and your reveal next week.
