World Market Mini Succulent Hanging Jars Knock-off

Hola!
I have to admit that it’s been pretty hectic here with all the projects.  I have large projects that are just waiting for me to complete.  That’s why I love when I can find quick projects to make for the casa.  Today, I’ve joined Jess from Domicile 37 again for Knock it off DIY.  In case you missed our last month’s theme of Kate Spade projects, you can catch that post here.  Today’s theme is World Market!  How exciting right?!

World Market is always full of fantastic home decor items and it was quite hard to choose an item to knock off this month.  I selected another item, but unfortunately I was not able to dedicate time to completing it just yet.  Instead, I decided to select a beautiful item that I could make for a few dollars.
I saw a cute trio of mini succulent hanging jars on World Market’s website for $11.97 and would be a great 5 minute decor project for this week.  If you didn’t catch my 5 minute decor project last week, you can catch it here.  You can use recycled items to reduce the costs of this project even more.  Baby food jars, floral wire, dollar store succulents, and ground shells can be combined for this look.
I had two children on baby food, so we had racked up a lot of these baby food containers.   Being the “saver” that I am, I have kept quite a few baby food jars.  I’m glad to have found something to do with them.  First, clean and dry each bottle then wrap each bottle with the floral wire.  Make a large inverted “U “which will serve as the handle.  Then use the remaining wire to wrap twice around the top of the bottle.  This will help secure the wires from unraveling.  Wrap any excess wire around the handle of the jar.
Fill each jar about half way with the ground shells and place your succulent.  I purchased two large bag of ground walnut shells last year for Nugget’s birthday.  I dumped the bags in a large container and added a mix of treasure for his Jake and the Neverland Pirates themed birthday party.  The ground shells are perfect since they hardly ever harbor bugs or viruses like soil.  Presto!  All done and ready for hanging.
