End Table Makeover: Making A Statement Piece

Hola!

It’s been an incredibly busy week here at Casa Watkins.  So many projects were completed this week and I have another to share today!  I joined the Fab Furniture Flipping Contest group a few months ago and have been looking forward to each of the contests.  This month, we were asked to transform a piece of furniture and Make A Statement using DecoArt Americana Decor chalk paint.  I recently became a DecoArt blogger so this contest was especially special.

I’ve been a fan of many of the DecoArt products even before becoming one of their bloggers, and the Americana chalk paint is definitely a good one.  I loved the color and it was so easy to apply.  Not only did the paint dry fast, but the DecoArt Americana Decor Soft Finish Varnish was excellent.  It added just the right amount of shine and luster!

Let’s take a look at the results.

I decided to make the small end table into a statement piece.  The table was a purchased off a Facebook swap group.  The previous owner had covered it in a light blue paint color which I later sanded down for a nice patina.  It’s a great combination for my navy blue powder room walls, but I wanted to pump up the color to make the table a wow factor in the powder room.

Changing the color to a green color named New Life by DecoArt was the perfect solution.  I applied a coat of the paint, waiting until the first coat dried, then applied the second coat.  Once the table was dry, I used the Soft Finish Varnish to add luster.  This completely transformed the table from a chalky muted finish, to a semi-shiny beautiful green.

A bit of gold Rub and Buff on the hardware and we were all set!  I haven’t moved the table back into the bathroom yet since it looked so nice by the front door.  It’s definitely a statement piece!

Thank you to the wonderful ladies who organize the Fab Flipping Furniture Contest.  As well as this month’s hostesses Carrie of Thirty Eight Street and Charlotte of Ciburbanity.  Should you also be interesting in joining the Fab Furniture Flipping Contest, find more information by emailing info@fabfurnitureflippincontest.com.

Thanks so much for stopping by my casa!
