My Home Style Blog Hop

Hola!
If I asked you to describe your home decor style, what would you say?  Before I started blogging, I was blog surfing adoring the variety of unique home decor styles.  There are so many great home decor styles that I invited 19 bloggers to describe their style and share key elements that make up their home style.  I am so thrilled to have so many eager bloggers participate and share their home design with you all.
If you are new to Casa Watkins, bienvenido (welcome)!  My name is Stephanie and I thank you for visiting my casa.  I am a Latina mommy to 2 toddlers and extra mom to a teenager.  I inherited a plain, minimalist bachelor house when I married my gringo husband 5 years ago and I am finally able to make our house into a home.  Come back after the blog hop to have a look around my casa.  My project gallery is frequently updated with fun, do-able DIY and decorating projects you can do for your home.
I am eager to see my how my blogger friends have described their home style.  Get the most home decor inspiration by following the hop all the way to the end on each day.  Another group of talented bloggers will be sharing on Wednesday and Thursday.  If you get lost, not to worry!  Simply head back here and catch up.
Okay, lets do this!
My home style is definitely an expression of my travels.  I am an Army brat and my family was stationed overseas for the majority of my childhood.  We did a tremendous amount of traveling and I gained an appreciation for all the various global elements in home decor and lifestyle.
I strive to make my home a cozy retreat that expresses a collection of global influences with an eclectic mix of styles.  Each area of my home incorporates a mix of different cultures that work to make one cohesive, cozy home.
Here are a few of my favorite things…(This line always makes me think of Christmas and Barbara Streisand.  Love her!)
When I think of cozy, I am immediately thinking big pillows, soft blankets, and a couch so comfortable that you fall asleep on it very easily.  When I began decorating our home, the only caveat my husband gave was that he wanted to keep his poofy leather sofas.  I’m not a huge fan of leather sofas, but our family room leather sofas are incredibly comfortable.  You just can’t have a cozy home without comfortable seating.
Here is my early fall decor.  Notice the colorful pillows!  Read more about the table vignette, here.

Here are my current fall pillows.   I recently collaborated with Big Lots to transition my family room from summer to fall decor.  Read the full post, here.

The beauty of global decor is that you can choice to display one or more global cultures.  My home is a mix of Latin, Mediterranean, Indian, Asian, etc. it is a complete hodge podge of cultures.  What’s more global then bone inlay furniture?  I love the look of inlay furniture, but do not have the budget for it at this time.  I decided to use stenciling to recreate the look for much MUCH less.  Check out that tutorial, here.
I love using a lot of color and metallics when decorating.  You’ll always find brass and colorful accents throughout my home.
One of my favorite color combinations is blue with white.  I love blue and white ginger jars and wish I had more of them.  Chinoiserie accents are a big favorite.

Caring after plants is not my strong suit at all.  They keep dying and I keep replacing them.  There is just something so natural and cozy about fresh plants and flowers.  I wish I was naturally gifted to care after plants.

Thank you for visiting my casa! I hope you enjoyed my cozy, global, eclectic home style.  I’ll be sharing part 1 of my fall home tour on Friday.  Now, hop on over to Around the Watts House to see Iris share her classic, elegant home style.
