Save the Trees! Make a Reusable Handwriting Practice Board

Hola! Buenos dias!
Back to school week is still going strong here at Casa Watkins.  Nugget has been working on his handwriting and I thought I’d share our reusable handwriting practice board.  We aren’t a fully green house, but we do try our best to cut down on paper usage.  Well, at least I do.  It’s been a struggle getting a teenager and my hubs to reduce their paper towel usage.  Nonetheless, I am trying to save the trees and money on paper.

I found these handwriting lap boards in the Target dollar section for only a dollar.  Target is so smart to have that section right as you enter the store.  I spend most of my time in that section and then realize that I forgot why I went into Target in the first place!  Anyway, the lap boards are great for older writers, but Nugget is only 3 and hasn’t mastered writing completely.

You can turn the lap board into a practice board by using a Sharpie!  We are concentrating on writing names at the moment, so I used the Sharpie to trace out Nugget’s name.  The board is double sided, so I left the other side blank for any future writing work.

I had Nugget use a dry erase marker to practice writing his name.  Once he was finished, I used a moist paper towel to wipe away the dry erase marker.  The permanent writing is left behind and ready for the next writing session.

Don’t you just love when something can be made reusable?  Now, to tackle all the paper towel usage.

Thanks so much for visiting my casa!
