Hammered Brown Painted Terra Cotta Pot Makeover

Welcome back to my casa amigos!  Do you have a favorite craft store?  I am lucky to have three major craft stores just a few minutes away from me.  Micheal’s is one of the stores and it was being renovated last week.  I entered the store to find that every aisle was changed so I wandered the store for almost an hour looking for supplies I need for another project….and checking out the new items.
I came across a new Hammered Brown spray paint by Krylon in the new paint aisle.  This new spray paint color (the tag said it was new) looked promising and I was interested to see how the hammered effect would look.  My new tropical plant from Walmart was in need of a pot, so I figured I could get a 2 for 1 deal and try the spray paint on a terra cotta pot.  I’m trying to break my brown-thumbitis and keeping more plants in the house.  So far it’s going great.

I gave the pot and plate 3 light coats of the spray paint.  Two coats was pretty good, but I gave it a third coat in attempt to achieve a better hammered look.

The results are pretty great and the color is pretty close to the sample cap on the paint can.  The color is a brownish-slate color than a true brown.  It also looks a bit metallic.  The texture is great as well.  It is smooth to the touch even though it looks textured.

The color looks great against the green plant.  Mixing in some natural woven pots with the hammered brown terra cotta makes this little space in front of the fireplace a small tropical plant oasis.  Fingers crossed that the plants will stay alive!

I’d like to try the paint on another surface soon.  I am thinking this color would be great on a tray or lamp.  What would you paint with the hammered brown spray paint?

Just a quick note, I randomly came across this spray paint and I have not been asked to write this post nor was I compensated by Krylon.

Thank you for stopping by my casa!
