Tropical Coastal Living Room Inspiration

I have unofficially begun my family/living room makeover. There isn’t a plan set as of yet, but I have been saving pictures from the internet for inspiration. I want to continue the colorful coastal cottage theme from my dining room makeover into the family room. I noticed that I am drawing closer to the tropical coastal colors and they will look so great in the family room. What better way to make the family feel like they are on an extended island vacation in their home, then to use the tropical coastal colors. Side note, Nugget continues to ask to take the plane back to the beach. Remember it has only been a few weeks since we went to the Dominican Republic for my mother’s birthday.

I love how you can change the feel of your home so quickly just by adding some simple furnishings. Take away the patterned pillows and dual geometric fabric covered coffee tables and you have a completely different look. The tropical pillows help to liven up this room.

I have tried numerous times to maintain plants only to be disappointed in the end. I am just not a good plant mommy. I have responded to Pink’s numerous requests for a dog saying that I just can not be responsible for another life. Clearly, that also extends to plants. These next rooms use plants so well. I am going to need to do some planning when it comes to bringing plant life into our family room.

I think that one of the best features in a tropical coastal room has to be the colorful accents. Sometimes, color can be demonstrated in small scale stylings such as lamps, colorful pillows, or artwork.
