Hola!
Summer is days away and I’ll be sharing some quick DIY projects this week to “Summerize” your home. Last week I revealed my colorful coastal dining room makeover and my dining table vignette. This week is all about quick DIY decor projects. If you saw my post yesterday, you saw my coastal specimen art made from faux sea urchin vase fillers. I happen to have two vase fillers left from that project and made these very easy DIY Sea Urchin Succulent Vase inspired by Dot & Bo’s own sea urchin vases.
Here is the Dot & Bo version. Aren’t they great? Unfortunately, they are currently out of stock and on back order. Lucky for me this just spikes my creativity.
To make the succulent vases, you’ll first need to spray paint the sea urchin vase fillers. I purchased my vase fillers from Target, but they are sold out at this time. You can purchase similar urchins
here. They are pink hued, but can easily be sprayed with the color of your choice. I stayed with the metallic silver, but you can use any color you prefer. Let your sea urchins dry completely.
I used faux succulents since I’m pretty sure my brown thumb extends to even succulents. The urchin has a hole on both sides which would probably help insert any materials you need if you are planning to use real succulents.
I used some succulents I already had on hand, but I have seen some in Target and even in the dollar store. Just insert your succulents in one of the holes. You can substitute the succulents for a real air plants or small faux floral arrangements! Just insert a piece of floral foam if you plan to use a faux florals.
This is a very simple project to bring more coastal vibes to your home. You can place them as accents on a shelf, table, or mantle. These versions are just the right size to accent any area.
Where do you think you can use these succulent sea urchin vases? Keep this project handy for when you come across sea urchin vase fillers by pinning to your DIY Decor. Pin and share with your friends!
