Spring Mantel and New Family Room Tray

Happy Monday!!
It is a great, sunny day over here in Maryland.  I love winter, but it was getting a bit crazy with the snow this year.  Its about time for some Spring blooms instead of snow.  Today, I’m sharing my simple Spring mantel and an amazing woven tray for the family room coffee table.

I have been searching a long time for the right tray for this table.  Its a rather large table, so I could never find something to the scale I wanted.  The tray is from………HOMEGOODS of course.  I found it in the clearance section for $29.00.  You have done it again, HomeGoods.

I placed just a few items in the tray so that the little fingers in this casa wouldn’t be too interested in what is going on with this new tray.  The artwork is a recent piece from Nugget’s art collection, the green period, lol.  It pairs great with the little paper mache bunny I picked up from Joann Fabrics.  I thought about painting it, but it looks great plain.  I placed two more on the mantel.  The bunnies are currently on sale for 40% off, along with all their Spring items.

The mantel has just the right amount of elements to say Spring, but not overwhelm my unpainted and unfinished fireplace.  I can’t wait to start my family room makeover and finish this fireplace.  Though, I haven’t finished the dining room yet.  There are two items on the mantel that I found while thrifting a couple of weeks ago.  The silver plated coffee server was $3.00.  It’s missing a piece around the spout, but that’s okay for now.  The small blue and white Chinese vase was also $3.00 and is a great addition to my newly started Chinoiserie collection.

Check out my two toned mercury milk glass vases.  I made these a few weeks ago and they have found a home on my mantel.  This is a very easy vase to make and you can see the tutorial for the two toned mercury milk glass vases here.  The small peony floral bouquets pop against the gold and mercury glass.  I haven’t purchased any fresh flowers yet.  As soon as I see some great fresh flowers, these peonies may be out.

I didn’t want too many florals, so I did two simple arrangements on either side of the mantel.  Have your apothecary jars serve double duty by placing your accent pieces and a floral arrangement.  I like how the dollar store plastic easter eggs look with the flowers.  All this room needs to be ready for Spring are new pillow covers.  I am so over these orange and blue pillows.  Did you see my blanket basket next to the fireplace.  I found that firewood basket for $6.00 at the thrift store!  Its a perfect size for our snuggies and blankets.  We wont be using the fireplace as much in the Spring, but we always are in need of our snuggies for family movie night.

Thanks so much for stopping by,
