Updated and Repurposed Thrift Store Sugar and Creamer Set

I found what looked like a vintage Fostoria Americana sugar and creamer set during my thrift shopping last week.  After some research, I am thinking its an imitation rather than authentic.

Either way, I did purchase it since it reminded me of a set my mother has.  I immediately thought that some gold dipping would update these pieces instantly.  I decided to just accent some of the prism effects on the set instead of dipping the entire set.  I love the outcome and it only took about 5 minutes.

Here is how the set looked before.  I was lucky to find this set on one of the 50% of sale days, so it was only $1.50.
I used a gold leaf pen to paint on some of the details of both glass pieces.  This pen was very easy to use and dries extremely fast.
I went for a little art deco effect on both containers, but you could cover the entire glass with the pen if you’d like.  It will still look very chic either way.  I plan to use my set to hold my paper clips and writing utensils when my craft room/office finally gets done.
In the mean time, I shifted the set around the house trying to find a perfect spot.  You could just use it for its intended purpose, or you can modify it just a little for some afternoon tea.
I found that the set looked fabulous in my bathroom to hold my cotton swabs and Q-tips.  Now, I just need to work on a tray.
Thanks for stopping by,
