Valentine’s Decor For Only a Few Dollars

I had a few minutes to spare today in between cleaning up toys and laundry.  I made these quick and easy Valentine’s day decor pieces from items sold in the dollar store and the dollar section of Target.  They are great additions to your Valentine’s Day decorated home.

Simple Romantic Gold Heart Wreath

I always have to stop at the dollar section whenever I go to Target.  I picked up this heart wreath for $3.00.  I liked the shape of the wreath, but not the silver tone of the metal.

I immediately sprayed it with my 18K Gold spray paint and it turned out pretty nice.  There are some areas that didn’t absorb the paint as great, particularly the areas where the mini white hearts were.   However, you can barely tell.  I loosely wrapped some romantic lace ribbon I had leftover from my sister’s bridal shower and viola, a romantic gold heart wreath.

The wreath can also be hung from a picture frame to bring some love to your gallery wall.  I hung my wreath on our family wedding photo.

Small Floral Piece

I found the brown bags with hearts from the dollar store.  Three bags for $1.00.  The cellophane bags and yarn are both for a $1.00 from the dollar section of Target.  I will show you in a future post how I used the cellophane bags and yarn for kid’s valentines. Update: Checkout the DIY Dollar Aisle Kid’s Valentines

For now, I will show you a quick floral piece using the brown bags and ribbon.  The brown bags are great to incorporate some Valentine’s day decor, without too much red and pink.  I cut about a 1/4 of the bag off to remove the handles and some of the inner tape that secures the handles.  Just insert a small bundle of roses (I purchased mine from the dollar store as well) and you’re all done.  I liked the rustic look of the bag, but you can also glue some ribbon to update the look.

All done.  You can make 1 or all 3 bags into your floral pieces to use on a mantel, dinner table, or as a gift for a teacher.  I would add a bag of candy below some fresh cut flowers if you decide to use as a gift.
